Path Finder Memorial Day

Following the huge success of our 2022 and 2023 Path Finder Events, Friends of the Pathfinders are hosting a Path Finder Memorial Day on the 28th June 2025 at the Village Hall, Offord Cluny PE19 5RR, starting at 10.00am to comemmorate those who served in 8 Group RAF Path Finder Force during the Second World War.

The event is free to attend and everyone is welcome.

Visitors can arrive from 10.00am at the village hall where tea and coffee will be available and peruse an exhibition about the Path Finders.

There will be various related artifacts on display including a stand by the Stirling Project, an organisation who are building a partial replica of a Short Stirling bomber aircraft in nearby Graveley.

There will also be trade stands offering related merchandise for visitors to purchase.

A raffle will take place to raise much needed funds for the restoration of the roof of All Saints Church, home of the Pathfinder Window, and tickets will be available to purchase until 12pm, giving visitors the opportunity to win one of several amazing items donated by numerous businesses and individuals including a beautiful watercolour painting of the Pathfinder window donated by Reverend Peter Taylor who will be hosting the Memorial church service.

The raffle will be drawn in the village hall at 1.15pm after the Memorial Service.

At 12.00pm, Rev. Peter Taylor will be holding a Path Finder Memorial Service inside All Saints Church, next to the village hall.

Rev.Peter Taylor traditionally held the annual Memorial Service for the RAF 35/635 Squadron Association Reunions at the church for many years and the Association was eventually disbanded in 2003 with a final reunion service. He will reprise his role once more and hold the memorial service in a similar format to the final service back in 2003. The service will also include a reading by Talia Borley, granddaughter of Air Vice Marshall Don Bennett, founder of 8 Group Path Finder Force.

Following the Memorial Service and to commemorate the RAF Path Finders, the Battle of Britain Memoral Flight Lancaster will undertake a low level fly-by over the church.

The time will be confirmed nearer the event date and the flypast is subject to aircraft serviceability and weather conditions.

Offord Cluny Primary School will be holding the village fete at the school which is a short walk from the Church and village hall, from 11am to 4pm. All visitors are welcome and there will be a variety of stalls and also refreshments including hot and cold food available. This is Offord Cluny's first village fete for some time and we would appreciate support for their event from our visitors. During previous 35/635 Squadron Path Finder reunions, it was traditional for visitors to the reunion to visit the village fete after the service and we hope to continue this tradition during the event.

If you are visiting the 35/635 Squadron memorial at the old RAF Graveley airfield entrance to Cotton Farm, Graveley Road, food and drink is available at the Three Horseshoes pub in nearby Graveley. This pub was frequented by the airmen from nearby RAF Graveley and there is some 35/635 Squadron memorabilia here which can be viewed.

If you are a Path Finder Veteran and would like to attend the Memorial Day, please email us on info@pathfinderforce.com so we can make special arrangements for your visit and VIP/accessible parking is available at the venue.
